Those Distant Voices

Nick and Dan have been playing in bands together for the past 6 years. Together they founded Unify'd, a local duo that played in Canterbury & the surrounding area. After a number of years gigging they decided to call it a day to concentrate on other projects.

After a few years away from the circuit Nick and Dan decided that the time had come! During a drunken conversation they decided to get back out on the road and Those Distant Voices was born.

EK1 are based in Kent in southern England and they perform around the UK and abroad from time to time.

The EK1 sound is very full, very professional - and very funky. The band plays a unique blend of classic soul and funk melodies with modern dance grooves to guarantee a good time for everybody on the dancefloor.

The band has played many public festival stages over the years, including slots on the same bill as Squeeze, Aswad and Boy George with audiences of up to 20,000 people.

EK1's live sets can embrace often-requested Blues Brothers and Commitments numbers, but the material stretches FAR beyond that! The bands repertoire comprises many more rarely performed soul and funk numbers by artists such as Jamiroquai, Tower Of Power, Go West, Womack and Womack, McFadden and Whitehead, George Benson, The Isley Brothers, Randy Crawford, The Fatback Band, The Temptations, Maze, Rosie Gaines, Will Downing and Hamish Stewart. EK1 always play an impressive selection of quality soul-funk material at every gig.

EK1 has always been well-known for its superb standard of musicianship, and for the fact that the band plays an off-the-cuff selection of songs at every gig which means the set is never the same two nights in a row. It is for these reasons, as well as for its staying power, that the band has forged its confident live sound and continues to attract a loyal following.

Come and see EK1 perfom at Music 4 Life as part of their 25th Anniversary Tour and help raise vital funds and awareness for Pancreatic Cancer UK!!!
